Converting the Rubber front wheels back to steel.  Not shown is adding extensions to the spokes to fit the new wheel.

(Left) torching the hub and what is left of the spokes out of the rubber tire rims

(Right) forming the new steel wheel in the press. 10 tons on a 22" diameter form inside the wheel and a 2 point press above form a 25" circle from the 3/8"X4" hot rolled steel strip 78.2" long. The clamps and angle iron allow the un-bent end to move past the starting end as the wheel is finished.
(Left) Normal CHAMPION 1C0M-A plug with terminal removed

(Right) Silver soldering a new terminal into the top of a broken plug.

"When you get in the mode of fixing everything you can from the original tractor you end up trying some strange things."

Both parts tractors had a magneto.  One was from the 1940's the other was the correct E4A IHC but was in REALLY BAD condition.  E-BAY came through with a rebuildable E4A for $42 inclucing shipping complete and rebuildable, just a tear down, cleaning and missing terminal knobs, the magnet was really week after 79 years.

(left) Here is the magnet ready for charging. 35 truns of 10g wire and the DC welder set to 200amps for 2 seconds gave it full strength..

(right) set timing and it's ready to go.

RUNNING! 29 days after starting the project

Not finished but if I am going to make it to the Flywheelers show on June 10 I have to work on getting it running.

The main fuel tank, air filter and turning brakes are not fixed, running on the 3/4 gallon gas starting tank.

Front "FELT WASHER"  shaft seal is throwing a LOT of oil.  The carburator is not working well at all, some oil comming from transission input shaft. Radiator looks good but have to change lower hose.  The oil pressure came up right away and of corse the oil filter can wasn't tight enough to keep from leaking.

I did get to drive it over 1000' and all the major things are working well!
